Mercury and Mars?

I'm never settled about these things, I mean the "occult," or hidden arts.  People i love dearly looked into these paths and eventually traveled another direction.  In the Arts we see these practises brought out, sometimes beautifully, sometimes not so much.  AND, i can't count the friends I have who actively practise or make their living with these tools.

Still, I watch and appreciate what has been handed to us by the ones who have gone before - and i simply adore the ones today who offer hope, love and possibility with the ancient wisdom . . heck, isn't this exactly what i try to do with my education?

I'd enjoy hearing your ideas about all these things.

What stared this post today was a report about Mercury and Mars "squaring off 'against' each other." Perhaps the first day of the year might offer a bit of challenging "truth telling (from differing perspectives.)"  I only vaguely understand about this . . BUT, the report offered advice I REALLY LIKE - SO - all the preface in this post was only to share this:

Simply say what needs to be said,
hear what needs to be heard
and move on.

isn't that good advice?
I'm gonna put this in practise
and see what happens.

Happiest New Year!

From My Friend, James Stone Goodman:

Eight Angels Came to Me On Eight Nights
Each one told a story******** *

On the ninth night
an angel came to me in the form of the dope man.
He told a story about a score who came to buy –
the dope man wouldn’t let him in.
He makes me nervous, said the discerning dope man.
Why are you telling me this story
and why on the ninth night? I asked.
You thought there were eight nights, said the dope man angel.
One year you will light for nine.
You assumed ten energies
there are eleven.
You learned four ways of reading —
there are five
– four levels of the soul
there’s a fifth.
What kind of dope are you selling
dope man?
The kind you live for, he said –
everything that issues from the mouth of God
– the kind you can’t do without.

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds;
my other ears that hear above the winds.
He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea.
He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being;
by the way he rests against my leg;
by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile;
by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him.
(I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.)
When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.
When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile.
When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.
When I am a fool, he ignores it.
When I succeed, he brags.
Without him, I am only another man.
With him, I am all-powerful.
He is loyalty itself.
He has taught me the meaning of devotion.
With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace.
He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant.
His head on my knee can heal my human hurts.
His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things.
He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him.
And I expect I will -
as I always have.
He is just my dog."

The idea of perfect closes your mind to new standards..
When you drive hard toward one ideal,

HUGO (2011)

I went to see this when it was first released
It was in 3D
and i couldn't stay to watch
the new technology
is interesting
but
made me
"sea-sick."

It took a while for 2D to reach our theaters
And, golly, It was worth the wait.

It's beautiful for the eye
has plenty of LOVE represented
plenty to amaze
and, is important to the Arts
to the History of Our Art
of Storytelling on Film
and the people who pioneered

Recommends from your maggid
happy grins at the thought of sharing it with you

BUT,
do yourself a favor
and watch in 2D.

"Now Serving"

Does this bring to mind the "blue plate special" in your local diner?
Or, has that term, "Blue plate special" gone out of favor for "special of the day" in your neighborhood?

Most of you know i have a new post.  It's turned out to be the most rewarding opportunity of my life.  And, something remarkable has started to occur.  The same way i was trained, the same way i have always treated those representing the HOLY - that EXACT SAME respect has been/is shown back towards me, in honor of the HOLY.  Golly, color this humbling.  What this does, of course, is call your maggid higher, to do her best - to listen and serve . . .

I'm thinking (of course this is an early morning thought, due to improvement as this day unfolds) - But, I'm thinking that today, and always what the Eternal One is Serving is LOVE.

here is today's quote from Yehuda Berg:

"When you serve others, life serves you."

Day has just begun - and already I'm in agreement.  I'm expecting GOOD today.
Good for you
and me.

Sad, But True . . . .

Okay, Okay -
here it is common to hear someone respond to a compliment
saying:
"It's just a reflection of you."
or
"I am just a mirror, you only see yourself."

most of us agree to this belief/concept

Rarely do we remember the reverse.

Today Yehuda Berg reminds us:

"Everything you don’t like in others
is your unseen faults being reflected back onto you."

yep . . when I want to kvetch . .
I'd better be looking at ME

here's hoping that doesn't happen too often
here's hoping I "get it"
and grow up.

I bet there's something astonishing in "next steps"
if we are willing to take them.
hm?

what do you think?

Each person has a specific mission in the world,
but all human beings serve like cells in a single body,
working together in the realization of a common goal.
                                                      -- Yehuda Berg

I like knowing we each have something specific to do that blesses the whole.
We don;t have to be in each others way -
We are unique - and, if we aren't doing our own part -
there's a kind of hole in the tapestry of life.

In this time of LIGHT
It's fun for me to consider
Each of us helping the Other to Reach Higher
Reach heaven and bring it closer,
like a Blanket of Light
we could all stand on
and be flung into the One,
like children in a blanket toss game . . .

From A Lodge Brother, John Peter Guinta:

Category:20th-century Islamic clergy

"It is difficult to say anything about Sufism as this Sufi story from Hazrat Inayat Khan explains:

"There is a well known Eastern legend giving the idea of a soul who had found truth. There was a wall of laughter and of smiles. This wall existed for ages and many tried to climb it, but few succeeded.  Those who had climbed upon it saw something beyond, and so interested were they that they smiled, climbed over the wall and never returned. The people of the town began to wonder what magic could there be and what attraction, that whoever climbed the wall never returned. So they called it the wall of mystery. Then they said, 'We must make an enquiry and send someone who can reach the top, but we must tie him with a rope to hold him back.' When the man they had thus sent reached the top of the wall, he smiled and tried to jump over it, but they pulled him back. Still he smiled, and when the people eagerly asked, 'what did you see there?' he did not answer, he only smiled.
This is the condition of the seer. The man who in the shrine of his heart has seen the vision of God, the one who has the realization of truth, can only smile, for words can never really explain what truth means".

I choose to see Good

I'm finding
this is honored
and my reward is
More Happiness
Unbounded Good

I apologize it's taking me time to find a new, workable schedule.  It keeps me from sharing with you as much as I'd like.

Today I attended our "Ed Fair."  It happens once a year.  the last two years I have been able to participate with the planning, which makes it even more fun.  This year my friend and i both won awards.  It's pretty good to be acknowledged in a room full of your peers . . . yep, a good feeling.  Of course, it encourages everyone else, too - Because - If I can do it . . Anyone can, and i bet that's what a lot of my fellow teachers were thinking.

I got to attend two excellent classes, got to pick a free book to bring home, got to facilitate a lunchtime discussion . . and, still had time to shop, visit with a friend, pet my creatures, dance around, get chores done, AND - hear that services at The Center - made everyone happy.

Now, that's because my friend, Jeannie Breeze was speaking . . .

All In All, I Must report that things are "Good and Very Good."

Just gotta get my schedule ironed out - and return to share with you more often.

Days of rain and rosesImage by Steve-h via Flickr
Oh my fur & whiskers!  For weeks now we have been getting my office ready.  It's going to be comfortable.  There's lots to do, and a long tradition to guide me.  I've got assistance from all over the region, and a master teacher supporting me in the background.  So, like many things, as long as i "suit up and show up" the Holy One will take care of the rest.  I still feel a little like "Where's Waldo."  That, of course comes from the balancing act of fulfilling previous commitments and moving into this new adventure.  This is one of those times I've got that inside assurance.

This morning i was singing for a service to say good-bye to a ministerial dream team that had been here, in the church i was originally sent here to serve, for four years.  They have a new post in Vancouver.  The people in Canada are already so excited . . .

My new post begins Tuesday.  I wish my Pops were here.  I've got him in my heart, he helped every step of the way and I'm pretty sure he'd be cheering now.

So, here we go, a maggid is about to pastor a congregation in a colorful, diverse neighborhood . . . super surprising . . and all good.
