Metro Conversations

This morning i rode the bus to story time with a gentleman from Afghanistan.
He has lived in the United States for a long time now and he says this is the best and the worst nation. Our bus driver asked him to explain.

He said when he thinks of this nation he sees a bright candle standing taller than all the others. Everyone in the world looks up to see the ideas shining far above the rest of the nations,
a sparkling shining beacon of freedom.
This is the best.

He said the worst is, a person, or a family could live in an apartment for twenty years but, after living there for all that time they could get two months behind in their rent and find themselves out on the street. he assured the bus driver that would not happen in other nations - because people would help . . . .

I enjoy conversations with the community.
Happy Thanksgiving from your maggid.
