Happy Retirement
My Friend,

Pastor James Christy

Thursday, June 26, 2008

I have just returned from a terrific service - or should I say a dream come true?
The event was at CRC (5020 Waterman Blvd.) There were people from several congregations there. It's an association of congregations calling themselves "Holy Ground." And - what a beautiful concept - they practise what they say. Isn't that "walking the talk?" There was joyfilled music from each congregation. There was laughter, sharing, honest discussion - and, even a point where we all wrapped arms around one another, singing about LOVE with such Hope and Innocence that I could feel True Presence in the room with us.

This one event was enough to heal the world, I'm sure of it.
It will fuel my dreams for a good, long while.

Dump The Pump Day

Oh Glory Be!
This is the day Metro is allowing everyone to ride the transit for free. You need a pass, but they are handing them out everywhere you get regular tickets. How cool is that????
I was on my way downtown and the train was filled with people in RED. If you live around here you know that means there's a Cardinal's Game. All those happy faces on their way to cheer for the Red Birds, on the train, FOR FREE.

Me, I'm "taking" a friend to a concert tonight. I suppose I'm not so impressive, since the bus ticket is free and so is the concert. In this economy, I AM thinking it's brilliant. I hope my friend enjoys the evening, even if i don't spend a bundle.

By the way, if you have a mind to, you are invited to join us. It's tonight (Thursday, June 19th) at Stone Spiral coffee & curios. Corner of Lyndover & Sutton - 7 - 9 p. The flyer says:

"Come enjoy coffee, tea and dessert - served up with a side of great stories!"

Get off the Manchester bus at Manchester & Sutton and walk up the hill a couple blocks.
Looks like an umbrella might be good.
You can't beat free (OR, a few dollars for some coffee & treats.)

'bye for now!

Worry Looks Around
Sorrow Looks Back
Faith Looks Up

Sent to me by a friend. Now it's sent to you.

Sending Love

It IS a good thing that the slurs, the sad words have stopped.
I'd like to hear as many voices lifted in love, concern, for this planet, suffering. We have floods, earthquakes, famine, poverty here and all around the globe. The faces are just like our faces, I hate to sound like Shakespeare, but - aren't we all the same? All the protesters, all the energy expended to complain. Are they exerting themselves, either vocally or materially, to be part of the answer?

I'm not able to fill bags with sand. I can purchase a little something to help feed the hungry. Even if I share some of my budget to purchase a few items for the food pantry, it's something.

For me, I'll pay attention and petition Divine Presence to Lift, Bless, Comfort. I'll listen carefully for the hand in healing that I get to take. Maybe today it's an extra jar of peanut butter, maybe tomorrow I can read to a child. Surely it will take everyone to heal the world. Surely, all the voices in protest about a traveling flame can now be lifted to bless and heal?

If we each did our own tiny part, this world and all the people in it, would know Peace and Plenty.

Do You Think?

By the way - Hurry Up -

Is My Humor True???

True humor is fun - it does not put down, kid, or mock.
It makes people feel wonderful, not separate, different, and cut off.
True humor has beneath it the understanding that we are all in this together.

Shavout Late Night Study

See This Building?
It's in University City
Right before the lion gate
you might go past in and not notice that it's been a presence for 113 years
that's understandable
I mean, everyone has a life, ya know?
Last Sunday Night
All Night
The lights were on
and this building was filled with people, sharing stories, reading from the Book
Looking for Life
I have to tell you, it was like being in Heaven

All Night?
You might wonder how that could be?
Weren't they sleepy?
There was too much Joy to be sleepy.

For those who wanted treats
either for the fuel to continue
or just the happiness factor
There was Cheesecake
Oh yes, Cheesecake, Ice Cream, Chips, Fruit

I had coffee with lots of creamer
(personal favorite)

There were so many teachers,
groups gathered in different rooms all over this large building
changing classrooms every hour
there were so many choices of where to go
what to explore
There was no way anyone could see it all
But, together
WE were
One Heart - One Mind

It was beautiful
