"You say goodbye - i say hello . . . "

Yesterday i stood shoulder to shoulder
with other educators
to support one of our own
as she said good-bye to her sweet heart
of 59 years.

He was also a terrific person
and friend of ours

Golly, he had friends and family
from everywhere
they all came
they weren't sad
they shared

it was easy to feel the love
and
when i left

it didn't feel as if we "lost" someone
it feels
as if our family
our community
became stronger
as if we grew in goodness

I've been to funerals like that. I love them. There's nothing better than a life well lived and long lived.
