I'm supposed to be working - but . . .

this is just too fun. See, I asked the dog, (Osa Magillicutty Happy Pants,) if she would consider taking me for a stroll - maybe just around the block. the weather is really nice and I could use a little moving around. So, Ms. Osa said "yes" and we were on our way. Before we got to the first corner a really large maroon van came from the alley, stopped and then slowly pulled onto our street. The thing is, they were moving so slow i could see the people inside clearly.

Now, if I were home (I'm from the western states, a performing arts family) I wouldn't think a thing of it . . but, I'm NOT home. This is Kirkwood, Missouri. (Need I say more???) This van was positively packed with people who looked as if they'd arrived, from all over the world, in the 1950's.

Honest.

There was a gentleman with a large handlebar mustache, there were several faces that looked Asian, there were men and ladies who looked as if they'd stepped out of a casting director's office, looking for a role on Leave It To Beaver. It was too amazing.

So - if I WERE home (we've already discussed that) - I would simply think it was a circus family - OR - people taking extra training in circus arts. Here - none of that would be happening.

Whatever - I finally rally and continue walking. By the time we get around the block, I see the van - empty, parked on the wrong side of the road - facing the wrong way (okay, they must not know our neighborhood, or the driving rules for U.S.A. - what's new about that, right???)

A-Ha!!!! Then I begin to spot them. Two by two they are paired, going door to door, knocking and engaging people in conversations when possible.

Definitely not Mormon - must be Witnesses.

Case Closed - but . . it was fun - trying to sort out the circus people.

I kept trying to decide how i would explain it, if i had to . . . now I don't HAVE to - but, still - I've decided to share it with you.

Okay, okay - I'll get back to work.

or any experience that reveals the human spirit.

A Most Excellent Suggestion:

For peace of mind, resign as general manager of the universe.

Slumdog Millionaire

I'm still considering this movie.

My first favorite scene was when the people noticed Jamal on his way back for the final round.
When they were sure it was him, they told him they were proud of him and gave him blessings to win.

I am still impressed by the thought - if it weren't for Ram and Allah we'd still have a mother.

The personality type of the main character - was good/interesting teaching.

I love the Hindi principles always upheld. Even though there were difficult things to convey - it wasn't overly graphic. And, the kiss was suggested - but, not shown. (I appreciate the belief system and moral code of Hindi film.)

I am thankful for the gift of a dance production at the end.

And - amazed that World Music has been lifted yet another notch.

I enjoyed this feature film.

Walgreens

I have friends out working today - handling emergencies.
They call in from time to time with interesting stories.
Their favorite thing to report is, even though parking lots all over the region are empty,
every Walgreen store is packed,
and looks as if there's a really hoppin' party going on.

I hope people have decided to stop for milk or extra candy - and not for aspirin.

Happy Happy - Whatever your celebration style -

It seems to me it's all about The Light.

Shoshannah sent this

Here's the quote - she found it on Aish.com:

"The sages teach that G-d assists a person to go in the way that he chooses"

I think this is a comforting thought.

Cheryl Pride took this photo

she was attending an eagle release event - so much like her - she never met a creature she didn't want to help - thing was - on release, the eagle went right towards Cheryl - flapped her pretty good while passing - and - this great picture is the outcome.

Update on "The Box"

It arrived in Los Angeles - eventually it was loaded on a train bound for New Jersey. Turns out the things inside were ordered by Big Lots. I wonder, in a few months, if we visit our local Big Lots, will we find scales, garden supplies and tape measures that arrived in this container.

Oh yes, the ship it arrived on was called "Starlight." Pretty Name, don't you think? of course, the news doesn't tell us about the people on board the ship - only that it's huge - maybe the length of two football fields.

Trains come through here a lot - I know the box is going through Chicago - I'll watch - who knows??? Maybe it will go by while I'm on a bus watching - and i can wave.

It MUST be close . . .

"The Box's next port of call is Los Angeles, where it is due to arrive on Wednesday 3 December"

It's supposed to arrive today - and, when looking at the GPS tracking map it looks like it's there already - it's just past lunch time there - so, maybe they are looking at the shore . . ya think?

Welcome to the City of Angels!!!!!

greetings!

The Box Update

I'm relieved to see the Box is just some few hundreds of miles from the shore of California. It's unsettling to think of those people out to sea like like. In my imagination they all get to come a shore and get different jobs. (giggle.)
